Can I come to the Library?
ARRANGEMENTS DURING THE PERIOD OF CLOSED CAMPUSES AND ONLINE LEARNING
Following discussions between the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the University's management, the following decisions were made:
• Nursing Science Students: Nursing students will continue with their studies online until further notice. Practical components will resume once the campus reopens, ensuring their safety and compliance with healthcare protocols.
• Engineering Students: Special permits will be issued to Engineering students to access the Richards Bay campus for in-person academic activities, ensuring that their educational progress is not hindered.
• Postgraduate Students: Postgraduate students will be allowed back on campus when the university fully reopens for all students. We appreciate their patience during these challenging times. For postgraduate students urgently needing to complete their experiments, they should liaise with the supervisors who will be able to arrange with the Deans for permits to be on campus.
• Science Students: Students with practicals and experiments that are time-sensitive will be able to return to campus before the official reopening. They should liaise with the supervisors who will communicate with Deans to identify specific cases that require immediate attention.
• Assessment Opportunity: Students who faced technical difficulties during online learning will be assisted. The challenges posed by technology are understood and the University will work to ensure that another opportunity is created to complete assessments where needed.
• NSFAS/eZaga Issue: We are aware of the difficulties faced by the remaining 247 students in completing the KYC process with eZaga to receive their NSFAS funds. Before the campus reopens, we will arrange for eZaga representatives to be on campus to address these issues. Affected students will receive detailed instructions via email. These arrangements represent interim measures to address the concerns raised by our students. We are committed to resolving these issues promptly and ensuring that the academic progress of students is not unduly affected. Further communication regarding the reopening of our campuses will follow in due course, once we have assessed the situation and determined that it is safe to do so.
